New Jersey Residential Energy Efficiency Incentives
When Home Energy Matters, a BPI accredited contractor enrolled in New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program, inspects, detects and corrects energy loss problems in your home, you are able to take advantage of incentives described below. These incentives are not income based, eligibility depends on how much energy your home can save.
Contractors not certified through BPI or enrolled in the New Jersey Clean Energy Program WILL NOT be able to give you access to these incentives and rebates.
If your house can reduce energy use
by 25% or more

If your house can reduce energy use
by 5% to 25%

- 0% financing, up to $10,000 over 10 years(for qualified homeowners)
AND
- Maximum $3,000 rebate (up to 50% of total project cost up to $6,000)
- $1,500 Federal Tax Credit

- 5.99% financing, up to $10,000 over 10 years (for qualified homeowners)
OR (not both)
- Maximum $1,300 rebate (up to 50% of total project cost up to $2,600)
- $1,500 Federal Tax Credit
|

Maximum Incentives - $7,500 of work for $3,000
|
Maximum Incentives - $4,100 of work for $1,300
|

These incentives are subject to project approval and loan approval by state contractors working for NJ Clean Energy. Project approval times are currently running at a 60 day turnarounds. Rebates may be stopped by NJ Clean Energy with limited advanced warning.

- Air Sealing
- Furnaces and boilers
- Water Heater
- Air conditioners
Measures eligible for 10% rebate and 0% financing include:
- Replacement windows
- Skylights
- External doors
- Appliances such as: refrigerator, freezer, washer

Federal Residential Energy Efficiency Incentives

Home Envelope and Home Heating & Cooling Equipment
Homeowners can receive a tax credit for making envelope improvements to and installing energy-efficient heating, cooling, and water heating equipment in their primary residence. The incentive is 30% of the cost of eligible measures, with a $1,500 cap on the credit per home.
Home envelope eligible measures include:
- Insulation and Sealing
- Replacement Windows, Skylights, and External Doors
- Window Films
- Roofs
Eligible home heating & cooling equipment includes:
- Furnaces and Boilers
- Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps
- Ground Source or Geothermal Heat Pumps
- Biomass Stoves
- Fans
- Water Heaters
