Detecting Air Leakage Routes
Acting as ‘energy detectives’, our auditors will fit an outside door with a “blower door” equipped with a variable-speed fan linked to air flow hoses and pressure gauges. The fan pulls air out of the house, lowering the air pressure inside. The higher outside air pressure then flows in through all unsealed cracks and openings.
A smoke pencil is used to detect air leaks. Interior thermal pictures may be taken to expose areas where missing or insufficient insulation is allowing air to escape from ductwork or walls.
Detecting Health & Safety Issues
We take your family’s safety seriously. As a Building Performance Institute (BPI) certified contractor we check for any potential health and safety issues like excessive moisture, combustion by-products or improper appliance venting. A gas analyzer tells if carbon monoxide is leaking from your water heater, furnace or boiler. We even check for leaks in your natural gas pipes.
